The Burn Prevention Network (BPN) is proud to welcome our newest board members—Jonathan Rossi, John Storey, and the return of John Bast! These dedicated individuals bring a wealth of experience, insight, and passion to our mission of burn prevention, education, and survivor support. Get to know more about them below!
Jonathan Rossi
Jonathan brings over 20 years of banking experience, beginning his career with PNC Bank N.A. on the retail banking side before transitioning into business banking, where he supported and advised small businesses and nonprofit organizations. Today, he works in Commercial Banking with First Keystone Community Bank, helping businesses and nonprofit organizations throughout the Lehigh Valley with financing, growth, and long-term relationship support.
Outside of his professional career, Jonathan volunteers with the Bethlehem Township Volunteer Fire Company as both a Fire Lieutenant and Board Member, focusing on fire prevention, public relations, and community education. He also serves as the Emergency Management Coordinator for Freemansburg Borough, working to reduce the impact of disasters through mitigation, prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery.
Jonathan was inspired to join the BPN board to help strengthen the organization’s financial stability while leveraging his frontline experience as a volunteer firefighter. He is especially passionate about BPN’s mission to “Reduce Risk” through fire prevention and education, as well as “Empowering Burn Survivors and their Families” by providing the support and resources needed to rebuild confidence and navigate recovery.
Jonathan enjoys playing golf, attending local events, and serving on boards and committees. He also cherishes time with his wife, Justine, their daughters, Jessika and Juliana, and their dogs, Jett and Rory.
John Storey
Deputy Fire Chief John M. Storey, Jr. brings more than two decades of experience as a volunteer and career firefighter, along with his dedication for advancing firefighter safety, professional development, and leadership throughout Pennsylvania. His commitment to excellence is reflected in his advocacy for training standards and organizational growth throughout the Commonwealth.
Chief Storey holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from Point Park University and an Associate’s Degree in Fire Science from Bucks County Community College, along with more than thirty professional certifications. His passion has earned him notable recognition, including the 2023 Fred Rogers Community Helper Award from the Fred Rogers Institute and the 2013 Jack Freeman Firefighter of the Year Award from Youngwood Volunteer Hose Company No. 1.
Beyond his operational leadership, Chief Storey serves as an Advocate for the National Fallen Firefighter Foundation. Additionally, he contributes to numerous boards and committees, including the Burn Prevention Network Board, 2025 Pennsylvania NFPA 1010 Revision Committee, Pennsylvania Fire Service Certification Advisory Committee, and Westmoreland Career & Technology Center Protective Services Advisory Committee.
Chief Storey’s dedication extends beyond the fire service. He and his wife, Kelley, share a passion for travel and are on a journey to visit all fifty states, embracing the best of America while prioritizing self-care and quality of life.
John Bast brings nearly three decades of dedicated service in the fire service to the Burn Prevention Network Board, along with a lifelong commitment to prevention, leadership, and community protection.
Appointed to the City of Easton Fire Department in 1989, John rose steadily through the ranks, ultimately retiring as Fire Chief in 2018. Following his retirement, he continued sharing his knowledge and experience by teaching at Bucks County Community College and Warren County Community College. Today, he works part-time at Morello’s Funeral Home, remaining closely connected to the community he has long served. John and his wife, Kathleen, live in Palmer Township and are proud parents to three daughters: Amanda, Rachael, and Samantha.
John first joined the BPN Board in 2007 after being recommended by his predecessor, Frank Chisesi. He is honored to be the third fire chief from Easton to serve on the board, following former Fire Chief Earl Brotzman, a charter member. After taking several years to focus on governance committee work, he is excited to return as an active board member.
From the beginning of his career, John understood that the true mission of the fire service is prevention. After graduating high school, he pursued the Fire Technology program at Northampton Community College, where he learned that while firefighters are trained to respond, their greatest responsibility is to stop tragedies before they happen. Like many new firefighters, he once felt the eagerness to fight fires and put his skills to work — but as he gained experience and eventually became Fire Chief, his perspective shifted. He saw firsthand that every fire represents someone’s loss, and that prevention is the most powerful tool the fire service has.
That belief aligns seamlessly with BPN’s mission of education and advocacy. During his earlier tenure on the board, John worked alongside Safe Kids Lehigh Valley and the National Fire Protection Association to support legislation for fire-safe cigarettes — a measure designed to reduce accidental fires caused by unattended smoking materials. When Pennsylvania legalized consumer fireworks, he collaborated with BPN and the Pennsylvania Career Fire Chiefs Association to advocate for repeal. While repeal efforts are ongoing, those advocacy efforts successfully secured a portion of fireworks tax revenue to fund prevention education — a meaningful step toward reducing risk in our communities.
Outside of BPN, John remains deeply involved in both faith and fire service. At his church, he serves as President of the Holy Name Society, Chairman of the Festa Fiesta Celebration, and as an Extraordinary Eucharistic Minister. He also continues his connection to the fire service as an administrative member of the West Easton Volunteer Fire Company. In retirement, he and Kathleen have enjoyed traveling throughout Europe, visiting Italy, France, Germany, and the Netherlands.
John’s lifelong commitment to prevention, leadership, and community education continues to strengthen the Burn Prevention Network’s mission to reduce risk and protect families across our region.
