Donor Spotlight: Fox & Roach Trident Charities
Posted on Mar 2, 2021 in Camp, General
Thanks to the generosity of the Macungie branch of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, a tenant of Fox & Roach Trident Charities, we are able to continue our program delivery throughout the state of Pennsylvania. Their charitable contribution will not only improve lives, it will transform futures.
Donor funds continue to allow us to support young burn survivors at our annual burn camp, Camp Susquehanna, and to promote community at related seasonal events. Young survivors, like Thomas, look forward to our programs as a respite from the loneliness and isolation that arise after a burn injury.
Thomas was 5 years old when he fell into a campfire and was badly burned on his face, neck and upper body. It didn’t take long after being discharged from the hospital for Thomas to notice that people were looking at him differently, recalling “I hung my head low and avoided eye contact with strangers.” Despite his reservations, Thomas blossomed at Camp Susquehanna and has since attended four times! Like so many others who attend Camp Susquehanna, his fellow campers and the camp staff became his second family. Upon returning home, Thomas’ mother recognized a positive shift in his demeanor; his head was now held high, he had confidence in himself and even a sense of pride that he was a survivor, not a victim.
We cannot wait to see how Camp Susquehanna will impact both returning and new campers this summer. It is because of donors like Fox & Roach Trident Charities that such impact is possible. To learn more about how our donors contributions transform lives, subscribe to our newsletter!
