Give Burns The Boot

"Give Burns the Boot" - Boot Drive

The Burn Prevention Network has begun conducting the largest coordinated Firefighters Boot Drive in our Region. Scores of fire companies/departments and hundreds of firefighters have been stationed in intersections and at public locations throughout the months of May, June, and July, all collecting donations to support burn survivors, their families and the expansion of burn prevention education within our area.

Give Burns the Boot is an initiative that has been successfully conducted for years in other areas of our Country,” noted Dan Dillard, executive director/CEO of the Burn Prevention Network. “Firefighters have a special connection with burn survivors and are passionate champions for their support. It is only logical that those who risk their lives to save others from burning buildings, would rally to the support of those seriously injured by fire."

This initiative has gained so much momentum that Danny Watkins, right guard of the Philadelphia Eagles has joined the effort as the Give Burns the Boot Honorary Chairman. Danny’s support is not just token. Prior to becoming a first-round draft choice by the Eagles, he served as a firefighter in British Columbia, Canada. “Danny can often be found hanging out in a Philadelphia Area fire station following an Eagles home game. He still considers himself, first and foremost, a firefighter,” commented Terrence Osborne, Fire Director of Winslow Township, New Jersey and GBTB Chairman.
