Welcome to the Burn Prevention Foundation web site. The mission of the Burn Prevention Foundation is to provide burn injury prevention education to and advocacy for those at greatest risk. Our primary service area is in Eastern Pennsylvania although many of our programs and products are utilized worldwide.
Pursuant to that mission we offer a wide variety of programs, materials and consultative resources to individuals, agencies and organizations throughout North America. If you have any questions or comments to share about this website, or the Burn Prevention Foundation, please contact us at burnprev@fast.net.
We encourage everyone to enjoy this holiday by attending professional firework displays produced by your local township, municipality or local amusement park. Fireworks in many states are legal, leaving people to believe that if they are legal, then they must be safe. This is a misleading falicy. Did you know that sparklers reach an internal temperature of 1800 degrees? Most firewok burn injuries occur to children under the age of 5 handling sparklers.
Be safe.....keep fireworks in the hands of professionals qualifed to handle them and keep our children out of harm's way of backyard displays. Please keep in mind that fireworks sold for individual use may be unstable, unpredictable and unreliable and are the resultof many unfortunate burn injuries.
Have a happy and burn safe holiday! For more summer safety visit " DontLetSummerBurnYou".
