Rationale

Burns are one of the most severe injuries the human body can sustain and still survive. Most people, however, are relatively unaware of the high risks of burns and fires, and how to prevent them. With education and behavioral modifications, most burns can be prevented.

Individual addresses range from a general overview on the topic Burn Injury in America, to tailor-made presentations for a particular group's interests or needs. Addresses include information identifying high-risk populations, causes of burn injury for these populations, the physiology of a burn injury, costs of burn injury, and the mission and services of the Burn Prevention Foundation, particularly its emphasis on prevention.
