courage awardOn September 21, 2006, Valley Preferred will proudly present the inaugural Spirit of Courage Award Dinner to benefit the Burn Prevention Foundation and the Lehigh Valley Hospital Burn Center. This event will honor both individuals who have risked their lives to save others from burn injury or death by fire, and individuals, groups or organizations that have done an outstanding job presenting or promoting fire safety and burn prevention education to the community. It will be held under tent on the grounds of Lehigh Valley Hospital – Muhlenburg, Bethlehem, PA.

We are requesting your assistance in the selection of these individuals, groups or organizations by asking that you submit one or more nominee(s) who meet the criteria below:

Spirit of Courage Award:

  1. The nominee must have performed an exceptionally courageous act attempting to save another person from death or serious injury from any fire source – house, car, outdoors, industrial, etc.

  (Civilian and or uniformed personnel may be nominated)

  1. The rescue attempt must have involved a significant degree of personal risk – exposure to either death or severe injury, and must have been undertaken by a resident of Eastern/ Northeastern Pennsylvania or Western New Jersey, or taken place within that area.

Partner in Prevention Award:

  1. The nominee must have done an outstanding job presenting or promoting fire safety and burn prevention education to the community.
  2. The resulting education must have impacted a significant percentage of the general public or targeted group.

The attached nomination sheet must be filled out completely and returned to the Burn Prevention Foundation no later than May 31, 2006.

The Spirit of Courage Award Dinner provides special opportunities to not only recognize heroic members of our community for their valor or commitment to prevention of burn injury, but to also thank the agencies that have nominated them.
