Introductory Seminar on Burn Nursing for Student Nurses

This program presents information that is basic to an understanding of burn injury and appropriate to a nurse's role in the delivery of care to patients with burn injuries.

These seminars on burn care - involving a lecture and audiovisual presentation - are offered two times annually to nursing schools in the region covering Northeastern Pennsylvania and Philadelphia, as well as the Greater Delaware Valley.

  • Burn incidence
  • Overview of burn care
  • Phases of burn care (emergent, acute, rehabilitative)
  • Emergency care of a burn injury
  • Management of the burn wound
  • Rehabilitation of the burn patient

Target Participants

This program is targeted to nursing students. The duration of the seminar/program is 4 hours.

Distribution Methods

Seminars are presented twice annually (Spring and Fall) at Lehigh Valley Hospital and nursing school sites in the region by Burn Prevention Foundation staff and nursing staff from the Lehigh Valley Hospital Burn Center.
