Burn Care Seminar for School Nurses

Objective

To increase knowledge and awareness of the entire childhood burn injury problem, preparing school nurses for appropriate assistance in the event of a student injury. Information also helps in their role of proactive safety instruction and in continual reinforcing of safe behaviors and practices.

Description

Seminar topics include:

  • Burn etiology and incidence
  • Emergency treatment for burns
  • Minor burn wound care
  • Post-burn school reentry
  • Overview of available prevention programs

Method of Distribution

Seminars are presented periodically for school districts or intermediate units in Burn Prevention Foundation's service area, or upon special request.
